40 years of TL Electronic

We started in the display sector 40 years ago and quickly added new product areas such as video signal generators, video film recorders, vehicle-grade monitors, industrial keyboards, etc. 20 years ago, industrial PCs, panel PCs and LCDs as well as monitors and accessories were the five strategic business areas with which TL Electronic was able to consolidate and expand its position in the market. Today the portfolio also includes a wide range of mobile computing products - from PDAs to rugged tablets and rugged laptops.

Quality instead of quantity

This original quote from managing director Stefan Götz still reflects the company philosophy today.

TL Electronic's product lines were and are characterized by high-quality devices for industrial needs that stand out from the competition through quality and tailor-made special solutions. This concept, combined with fast and reliable support, will be pursued relentlessly. Industry expertise is constantly growing and more and more innovative special solutions are emerging for hygienically or environmentally sensitive industries.

1983
  • Founded as TL Electronic Vertriebs GmbH in the Euroindustriepark Munich
  • Trade relations with predominantly Japanese suppliers in the display sector
1984
  • Europe-wide expansion of sales of video signal generators
  • Opening of a sales office in Paris
  • Distribution agreement with Kent Modular Electronics Ltd, UK
  • Increase in share capital to DM 300,000
1985
  • Expansion of the product range: video film recorders, video tracker applications, magnetic shielding, etc.
  • Move to the east of Munich.
1986
  • Renamed TL Electronic GmbH
  • Expanded business activities in development and production
1987
  • In-house development of vehicle-compatible monitors
  • Inclusion of additional display products (anti-reflective glass, front panels, industrial keyboards)
1990
  • Expansion of the premises
  • Introduction of a comprehensive company structure, development of an in-house quality assurance system
1992
  • Introduction of flat panel displays
  • Development of own 19-inch slide-in systems
1994
  • Expansion of the premises and relocation to the north of Munich (Garching-Hochbrück industrial estate)
  • Share capital increase to DM 500,000
1995

Introduction of further products - panel PCs and industrial LCDs

1997

Orientation of production towards "customised" IPCs, PPCs and LCDs

1998

ISO 9001 certification

2001

Stefan Götz and Michael Mohr assume responsibility for the business

2002

New certification according to DIN EN ISO 9001:2000

2003

TL Electronic becomes a training company

2004
  • Doubling the production area
  • Conversion into a closed ESD protection zone
  • Foundation of TL Electronic GmbH Austria
2006

Foundation of TL Electronic branch office in Italy

Relocation to Bergkirchen-Feldgeding - expansion to 2,400 m²

New sales channel: The web shop

Introduction of the 1st multi-touch models (manufacturer TPK)

First-time exhibition of PDAs and tablet PCs (partner company Winmate) at the SPS trade fair

  • Start of regular trade fair appearances
  • exhibitor for the first time at the "all about automation" trade fair in Friedrichshafen.

Conversion to DIN EN ISO 9001:2015; DIN EN ISO 14001:2015

Establishment of a commercial agency in Austria

  • 15% stake in the company Winmate.
  • Redesign of the new open-plan office of the sales department with open space

  • Comprehensive logo and website relaunch

  • Stefan Götz becomes sole managing director, power of attorney for Mr Klingseisen

  • 40th anniversary of TL Electronic GmbH
  • Sector and sales expansion to include healthcare, marine, energy & chemicals, ATEX and defence

40 years of TL Electronic - we celebrated this as a team with a company outing to Würzburg and a visit to the "Wein am Stein" festival.
